The European Innovation Partnership on Water (EIP Water) is an initiative within the EU 2020 Innovation Union. The EIP Water facilitates the development of innovative solutions to address major European and global water challenges. At the same time, the EIP Water supports the creation of market opportunities for these innovations, both inside and outside of Europe. The rationale of the EIP Water is to make use of existing mechanisms, also with regard to funding opportunities. The EIP will be linked to the existing EU financial mechanisms, such as FP7, Horizon 2020, the Cohesion and Structural funds, LIFE and others. Working on projects that are linked to the EIP priorities will increase the chances for EU funding.

EU Expertise, Technology and Solutions for India Water Development Programme. The water and wastewater markets in India are growing exponentially. There is a tremendous challenge of providing water to keep pace with its economic growth and dealing with the resulting wastewater. This creates significant opportunities in these sectors which are expected to grow twentyfold to over €500 billion in the next 5 years. To facilitate the participation of the EU SMEs in the Indian market, EBTC has become the exclusive strategic partner of India Water Development Programme (IWDP) for the European Union (EU).
IWDP is a structured programme of ETI Dynamics (UK) that aims at increasing the uptake of environmental technologies across India wherever interdisciplinary and multi-stakeholder partnerships for water can be designed into path-breaking projects.
The EBTC Water Partnership (EWP) has been constituted to support the deployment of EU technologies and expertise in IWDP’s pioneering projects with a vision of establishing effective EU-India collaborations. In short, EWP is a strategic platform for EU businesses, clusters, organisations, research institutes and platforms (programmes) to collaborate, innovate and establish their presence in the evolving India water and wastewater sectors.
